| | 15 | The Next Ion Medical Machine Study (NIMMS) leverages CERN expertise in the accelerator field to develop a portfolio of technologies and competences for new medical facilities. The focus is mainly on the acceleration and transport of carbon and helium ions, which have several advantages compared to protons, but whose diffusion remains limited due to the size and cost of the machine. |
