1. Introduction: KL
   • The five-yeara plan for MedAustron produced by MUW/TUW/MedAustron has the SmartPhantom work scheduled in. The first exposure where we can be involved is October. Need to be ready. This places a spotlight on, e.g., the SmartPhanton preparations.
   • Some news from discussions before Christmas. KL made a visit to GSI and discussed with colleagues there. There are opportunities to expand our collaborative radiobiology activities. In addition, GSI is organising a meeting on new directions in radiobiology, KL submitted an abstract to this just before Christmas.
   • We've submitted several other abstracts: AK ot PTCOG and JPa to IPAC. We need to post these on the wiki.
   • Discussions with the Vice Dean indicate that we should prioritise drafting a i/p to the EPSRC call for 'Big Ideas'. KL will draft and circulate for comment.
   • At these meetings (i.e. LARA CDR), KL proposed an increased emphasis on the h/w and prototyping projects (Gabor lens, SciWire and SmartPhantom). This should go in parallel to the development of the CDR for LARA.

   • AK: Prepare strawman SciWire schedule.
     • Stands.
3. Progress; comparison to schedule: AK
   • AK requested spreadsheets from CH and KL so that he can produce the overview schedule (action: KL, CH).
   • SciWire/SmartPhantom update:
     • Showcase workshop will be 19Mar19 in SAF. Need to invite people from low-energy ion-beam facilities and manufacturers. All are invited to provide i/p to AK.
       • JPo volunteered: GSI: Peter Forck (Beam Diag) and Marco Durante.
     • AK will prepare schedule to end of March; focus at the moment is on the jig for winding.
   • CDR:
     • KL is late with the completion of the introduction. No one else is late (yet).
     • JPo/JPa had a discussion on the next steps. Parameters have been agreed. Risk mitigation possibilities for Gabor-lens failure have been considered. Could use DC or pulsed solenoids, warm or SC, or HTSC. Could be a project with Oxford Instruments. No technical reason to drive us to addopt SC/HTSC.
   • Gabor lens:
     • So far preparation conforms to the schedule.
4. Parameter table update for Gabor Lens and transport: KL
   • Started to enter the parameters, then got pulled away. Will be done asap.
5. Gabor lens recommissioning update: CH
   • Lens is now in the conditioning phase. Vacuum pumping began early in December and continued over Christmas. Pressure is still dropping slowly (has reached 2.9E-6mBar).
   • Strategy is to condition with HV/current and then add instrumentation. A second round of leak checking will be performed when in the various stages of reassembly.
   • Radiation protection discussions have started. X-ray emission needs to be quantified.
   • Wish to do a visual inspection to seek explanation for small number of breakdowns during commissioning.
   • Paper on previous measurements in preparation. Expect update on the document in the next weeks.
6. LARA CDR skeleton: update: All
   • Noted above. KL needs to finish introduction and then work shoudl begin on the more meaty sections.
7. Next steps: All
   • The preparation of a more detailed simulation of SmartPhantom is now important. Need to interface with HT. Goal is to be complete for October.

   • We agreed to meet fortnightly.
