- Planning Document: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1OTARVtxhLRu02S6CLdRDB2QlGvCqDfZ3aWBifjIFs_Q/edit?tab=t.0
Attended: KL, MH, CW, TP, SdL, PB, RH, RA, FA, CD
Meeting Notes
- Alternate Beamlines
- ELIMED part of the next ELI submission
- There appear to be calls for ELIMED every year
- 20th October 12:00 (noon)
- Unlikely to make this deadline
- Cannot make a submission repeating the same missing details
- BUT:
- Calvin to share the document
- Ken and Josie to nudge the bioplan into action
- ELIMED part of the next ELI submission
- BioPrep
- Alex seen SCAPA
- Yes and transwells have been agreed to be the best way forward
- Transwells
- Cost ~£1000
- February puts the bio team on a timetable
- Need a stronger bio/SCAPA presence at these meetings
- Colin to reach out to Marie
- Colin to reach out to the SCAPA team to confirm February is our goal
- Alex seen SCAPA
- Instrumentation
- RCF
- Updates on delaminated EBT4
- No longer sold unless for 100 boxes or more
- Need 35 more boxes to get an order
- Mark found a different type of film
- Tony has requested a free sample to check it out
- Tony has two master's students on cmos and can compare to the new film
- Updates on delaminated EBT4
- SciFi
- Construction pad is built
- Appears to be no sensitivity to rotation of the array (as expected)
- Thin wall ion chamber
- On-line detector uses protons
- Thin window (10s of um of Mylar)
- Concern is mainly recombination at the time of ionisation because of the intense pulse
- Will still see a residual ionisation
- Diamond detector
- Off-line using the electrons
- Need a better understanding of the electrons to understand its feasibility
- Richard to discuss thin wall detectors and diamond detectors at a Tuesday meeting
- Calorimeter
- Measure the energy by measuring the temperature change in graphite
- Most stable and understood measure of dose
- If we had £10K can ask the same company NPL asked to make a transcal detector thin enough for our energies
- Sam Flynn's detector that has been discussed before
- Longer term benefit is thatthey're known compared with something like air fluoresence which is not as well known
- Further discussion:
- Need to group these diagnostics into:
- In-beam beamline diagnostics
- Dosimetry run at the same time as cells. Measuring the dose in the cells. eg ion-acoustic
- Measuring the dose of the low-energy beams to establish stability
- As always, beamtime available in Birmingham
- Ken, Simon, Calvin and Josie to discuss next week
- Need to group these diagnostics into:
- RCF
- SCAPA
- Updates
- No update
- Updates
- Review Trello: https://trello.com/invite/b/67587c515b0c69656ee78b48/ATTIe86f94b24e3e5884e4cb87e5ed3b89ab64321B83/poplar
- DoNM
- 15/10/26
- AoB
- Funds
- Have £5k
- Ken meeting this afternoon to discuss £14k Imperial money
