     3Radiotherapy patients need to be positioned reproducibly for a number of treatment sessions (typically 5-30 sessions over a period of several weeks).  Each treatment session may last up to 20 minutes and the patient should stay as still as possible during this period.

     5This project will explore the use of optical imaging to quantify measurements of patient skin shifts, both between treatment sessions (so-called “inter-fraction motion”) and during a treatment session (“intra-fraction motion").  The project will also investigate how the optical imaging data should best be analysed and presented to clinicians.  Presenting the data directly to patients could empower them to manoeuvre their own bodies into the correct position prior to treatment.
