    5353== Notes ==
     54Participants: A Kurup,  K Long, J Hughes, O Ettlinger, G Aymar, TD, CW, HTL, JPas, WS, JPar, T Greenshaw, G Schettino, J Matheson, J Pozimski, G Jones\\
     55Apologies: K Kirkby, K Gleason,
     56
     57 * Previous action items:
58  * AK, OE, GH, HTL and TD to continue discussing details of how to proceed with the laser-target simulations.
59   * Plan to run simulation in 3D and compare the resolution to what we can get for an equivalent 2D simulation.
60   * HTL just got an example Smilei input file from George Hicks and will go through it.
61  * JPar to email regarding fixing the best time for regular meetings on radiobiology.
62   * Will send an email to determine interest in setting up a separate meeting to discuss radiobiology activities. Need to see if we have a separate meeting or keep this in the weekly meetings.
     63 * Publication
64  * Deadline was Monday. AK and KL received comments and is in the process of updating the paper.
65  * JPas still checking and will send comments soon.
66  * HTL checked dose rate calculations and found an error.
     67   * Discussion on calculation
68    * See slides from HT.
69    * JPas: Can look at SRIM. JPo has used this before.
70    * OE: We use SRIM for modelling radiochromic films. Problem is it only works on Windows.
71    * HT ran native Geant4 and saw same results as the BDSIM simulations.
72    * JPo: have SRIM on the tablet and will look at checking the energy deposition.
73    * Will continue  discussion on this after the rest of the meeting.
     74 * Capture - CW
75  * Getting things set up to do modelling. Making the right contacts to push this through.
76  * Looking at VSIM. Strathclyde has an old version. May want a newer one but it's very expensive. Cluster at Strathclyde has 300Gb RAM and may be available to run simulations on.
77  * Bob has physical dimensions to look at back of envelope calculations re diocotron.
78  * TD: Working on defining input file in prep for running.
     79 * Stage 1 simulations
80  * TD: looking at tracking simulations using a transfer matrix and an idealised electric field for the lens. Discrepancy is much smaller now after discussing with WS (mainly due to the aperture needed to match the optics).
     81  * Laser-target
     82   * HTL: See above
83   * OE: GH is looking at estimating how long 3D takes, 8 years. Will look at optimising the calculation.
     84 * AOB
     85  * KL: micro-beams
86   * See slides on [raw-attachment:2020-05-07-CurieInst-first_simulations.pdf Micro-beam simulations from T. Schneider and Y. Prezado of the Curie Institut].
87   * Want to consider other energies.
88    * JPas: to calculate the beam properties properly will require some effort. Can think about incorporating the scanning magnet details in our simulations.
     89  * Dose rate calculations
90   * HTL: May have found a bug, wrong value was used for the mass of the carbon beam.
91   * AK to install SRIM on the group's server.
92  * TG: Made contact with Carsten Welsch who is interested in scintillating fibre beam monitors.
     93
