Gabor Lens meeting: 21May20; 16:00 BST
Present:
Notes
- Introduction, notes and actions: KL/All
- JPo: Provide TSD with the geometry of the present prototype Gabor lens
- Stands. Still seeking the dimensions of the present Gabor lens.
- KL/RB: Take a look at the Bingham et al paper on laser-driven accelerator for medicine
- Stands.
- TSD: Provide beam envelope as a function of distance along the beam line for CW to plot
- Done.
- JPo: Provide TSD with the geometry of the present prototype Gabor lens
- Updates on the calculation of instability: RB
- With design in hand, RB can prepare a calculation of the instablisities.
- Electron injection simulations: CW
- Get electrons on axis by shaping electron emitter.
- RB: optimise to get electrons on axis to limit diocrotron instability.
- Updates on the particle generation: HT
- Dose-rate calculation.
- Has run a simulation with SMILEI and is now beginning to unpack it
- ERC proposal timeline: KL/discussion
- Discussion of plasma simulation code - CST vs VSIM: All
- Some experience at Strathclyde; CST has recent upgrade.
- We discuss possible ways forward and conclude that we take a practical approach. Use VSIM from DF for now. Look at CST as we go.
- TSD thinks VSIM more powerful that CST. So, happy with parallel approach.
- AoB
- None.
