• Simulations
  • MP gave brief update on beam capture simulations with PMQs at 15 MeV. Slides asked for 2 weeks time. Brief discussion followed on transmission at 15 MeV and synergy with PoPLaR simulations by Calvin (CD). WS to discuss with CD at Lates r.e. beam description & profile & spectrum measurements without quads. Opportunity for Robbie to measure without PMQs to understand divergence as function of energy.
  • TJK thesis writing.
  • JP gave brief update on RF cavity simulations. LhARA can operate with 4 kV total in a single cavity; injected beams will circulate for 80 turns completing 1/4 of a synchrotron oscillation, totalling ~27 us. Then the FFA can switch to the acceleration phase. Currently the CDR says 4 kV across 2 cavities, JP proposes changing to say 4 kV per turn, and let later performance simulations & economics decide if 1 or 2 cavities is more feasible. WS to email Josie to update CDR.

  • MMC to join us on longitudinal LhARA program. WS & MMC to meet to discuss LhARA models. Meet in a few weeks with JP & David Kelliher to discuss longitudinal modelling.
