Meeting Notes

1. Optimisation & FEMM results presented in the attached LION_12-02_Update.pptx slides- C.D

• The new optimised tilts/shift positions appear to generate plots that look plausible and seem to recreate the RCF nicely.

2. Some bugs were identified with the field map quads being placed into the BDSIM simulation:

• Potential issue with the size of the central quad field aperture.
• FEMM plots present holes in the middle for each RCF.
• Bugs in parallel scoring simulation result in repeated data points and an energy spectrum with MeV too high.

More field mapping was carried out in order to try to increase the efficiency in the attached Initial_runs_with_PMQ_fieldmaps.pptx slides- J.M

• Highlights run-time issues (~6000s per 1000 particles for full field map, ~6000s per 10,000 particles for field map reduced by 90%) and how we’ve tried to mitigate- reducing eloss scoring, turning on minimum scoring, reducing field size, etc.

Future Plan

Look at the optical response and see if we can reproduce.

Contact Will about speeding up field maps. Look at bugs.
