Preliminary data sets
Data sets generated for the initial evaluation of the ionacoustic response of beams consisting of 10^{4} particles entering a 30cm x 30cm x 30cm water phantom.
Parameter  Definition 

Xposition  Mean initial position about which the particles are distributed on the xaxis (horizontal) 
Yposition  Mean initial position about which the particles are distributed on the yaxis (vertical) 
Normalised xmomentum  Mean initial xcomponent of momentum, normalised with respect to the total particle momentum of particles 
Normalised ymomentum  Mean initial ycomponent of momentum, normalised with respect to the total particle momentum of particles 
Energies  Mean initial mean particle energy 
Temporal spread  Mean particle entry time relative to time = 0 
Each "batch" refers to a group of runs which vary one parameter or the distribution of a parameter. For example, Batch 1 varies the mean initial energy of particles entering the phantom.
The "input file" specifies the initial positions and momenta of particles and should be read as:
xposition [mm]  normalised xmomentum  yposition [mm]  normalised ymomentum  particle energy [MeV]  particle entry time [mm] 
The "output file" gives a complete history of energy depositions due to the 10^{4} particles as they travel through the phantom. Each initial particle is assigned an EventNum
between 0 and 9999. At each point where the particle (or a derivative particle radiated as a result of energy deposit of the initial particle) deposits energy as it travels in the phantom, the total energy deposit and the x
y
and zposition
of this deposit is recorded. The Global Time
at which the particle deposits the energy is recorded, relative to t = 0 when the first particle enters. Delta time
refers to the time step between this energy deposit and the previous deposit by this particle. Particle Name
specifies the type of particle responsible for this deposit. The header row of these files denote the meaning of each column.
