Present: CW, RW, RG, HO, CP, EM, JMcG, AFR, CD
Notes
- Minutes and actions:
- CW: Check on exhausts and talk to the "owner" of the backup cabinet
- DONE
- BT/RW: Send Calvin the proton energy spectrum.
- STANDS
- JP: Talk to Fisher and get a plan of action for the order and delivery of consumables to Strathclyde
- STANDS
- DONE
- CW: Check on exhausts and talk to the "owner" of the backup cabinet
- Strathclyde Updates: RG, RW, CW
- Laser damage and beamtime:
- No major update.
- Still on for July run.
- Characterising the source to begin ~the week of the 14Jul
- Quad alignment and set up to be from 22Jul - 25Jul (21Jul is a bank holiday)
- Include cell sample for this run.
- Funding can extend until end of the financial year.
- Need to change the times of no-cost extensions (Emma to chase Tony about this).
- Bio phase to occur after September
- Bio-safety cabinets
- Fixed!
- Recalibration to be completed in the next week
- Waste and plastic consumables:
- Plan confirmed to use the autoclave in the Wolfson building.
- Need to train someone to carry the waste over.
- Marie Boyd is the back up.
- No update from Jason as off, but had been contacted by Marie.
- Plan confirmed to use the autoclave in the Wolfson building.
- RCF stack fiduciary:
- Larger stack cut and notched
- Smaller stack more tricky.
- Can send to Rutherford for laser cutting
- Field mapping, preparation of PMQs: HO/BS
- Everything delivered or on delivery to Strathclyde.
- Expected by Monday (30Jun)
- Marked with a sharpie to indicate which way is forward.
- F quad has the lettering the right way around when placed correctly in beamline.
- PMQ Positioning/Beam optimisation: CD, RG, JMcG
- Tony produced simulations with an average of 5.6KeV/um
- Previous simulations of 10MeV had shown an average of 4.8KeV/um
- Waiting for overlay from Tony to better understand distribution of LET
- Simulation update: KL, CD
- G4 simulation of RCF stacks complete.
- Verified with SRIM and in comparison with LLO.
- Does not show the splitting effect that was hoped for
- Further verification with TOPAS simulating an RCF stacks
- Bioprep: EM/MH
- Cultures appeared to have survived.
- Results will be ready before the next meeting
- DoNM
- 10Jul25 14:00 BST
- AoB
- Ross' last meeting :(
Summary of actions
- All the elements for the beamline are now in place
- TP (and others?): Chase up no-cost extensions
- RW: Cut and notch smaller RCF stack
- TP: Overlay previous LET distribution on newer
- CD/AFR: Verify G4 RCF stack
